Bremont Limited Edition Hawking Stainless Steel Watch HAWKING-SS-R-S

The classically styled Bremont Hawking Limited Edition watch, featuring a retrograde seconds hand and grand date, contains 4 wooden discs inlaid into the back of the watch taken from the desk at which Hawking contemplated the mysteries of the universe, one of his most treasured possessions.

This chronometer also contains some meteorite to symbolise the cosmos which can be seen at the centre of the hand-finished closed case back, as well as an etching of stars from the night sky in Oxford, on 8th January 1942, the date that Hawking was born.

The watch’s serial number is printed on paper from original copies of a 1979 seminal research paper commonly referred to as “The ‘nuts’ and ‘bolts’ of gravity”, co-written with one of Hawking’s longest serving collaborators, Professor Gary Gibbons, that sought to understand the thermal properties of black holes.

Only 388 stainless steel, 88 rose gold, and 88 white gold watches will be made; the numbers referencing the year in which Hawking’s “Brief History of Time” was published, 1988.

This model combines an alligator leather strap with a 41mm stainless steel case housing a modified calibre 11 1/2’ BE-33-AE with 29 jewels and a 42-hour power reserve. Domed anti-reflective scratch resistant sapphire crystal protects the dial which also has Superluminova coated dial hands.
